NewsFoxy Brown pleads not guilty in assault caseFoxy Brown pleaded not guilty today (October 16) to assault charges stemming from an incident in which the rapper allegedly threw her mobile phone at a neighbour. Brown, 28, appeared today in Brooklyn State Supreme Court to enter the plea, reports the Associated Press. The rapper was arrested in Brooklyn in August after she allegedly used her mobile phone to strike her neighbour, Arlene Raymond, for complaining about the volume of her car stereo. Brown has been in Rikers Island prison in New York for violating probation by skipping anger management classes and leaving the city without permission in an unrelated case. Phil Spector trial: Day 31 The Phil Spector murder trial resumed in Los Angeles today (July 9) with charged testimony from a witness for the prosecution following a 10-day holiday break. Former New York City police officer Vincent Tannazzo took the stand and testified that he heard the music producer threaten women and use obscenities to describe how they deserved to die. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler had previously ruled that Tannazzo could not testify, but reversed his decision today, saying that his comments could be relevant to the case. Tannazzo testified that he heard Spector make obscene comments about women at a party thrown by comedian Joan Rivers in the mid-1990s, reports the Los Angeles Times. "They all deserve a bullet in their head," Tannazzo said Spector told him. The former police officer was working as a security guard when he heard the producer make a similar comment at another Rivers party seven years ago. Tanazzo testified that Spector said, "I ought to put a bullet in her head right now." Tannazzo added that he frisked Spector after a row between the producer and a woman, and found a handgun in Spector's belt. The prosecution is arguing that Spector has a pattern of threatening women, especially when drunk, and that the murder of actress Lana Clarkson was an extreme example of this pattern. Spector is accused of murdering Clarkson on February 3, 2003 at his Los Angeles mansion. The defence contends that the actress shot herself. The producer arrived in court this morning sporting a new brown hairdo, a switch from his previously blonde locks. |
